OldNanaimo  - The Time Window is a proposal for the City of Nanaimo's 2025 Call for Public Art.
The project takes the form of a looking-glass sculpture that requires the viewer to stand in a certain position in order to see the optical illusion. In this particular Time Window, the story is being told about Merchant’s Bank, and the architect Francis Rattenbury. It’s a tale of pride, deceit, and murder.
This interactive installation is a love letter to Nanaimo’s classic architecture, and a unique way to tell an interesting story. It’s purpose is not only to shine a light on a little-known story, but to reflect on the growth and change we’ve experienced as a town and society.
